Campinfire, an indie-folk band with emo vibes, comes out of Brazil with their latest ep Flawed released last year. They are currently working on their next album and it is expected to release sometime this summer. The band formed in 2010 with Renan Falcão (guitarist and vocals) and later on added Gabriel Paulo (drums and DJ), Fernando Atila (bass), and Karlla Barrett (backing vocals). This band contacted me on Facebook asking me to just check out their stuff and I’m beyond glad they did. Their music pulled me in immediately. They have a Youtube channel where they post covers and quirky videos. Their most recent cover is of Bring Me The Horizon’s Can You Feel My Heart, which is just incredible. I was genuinely surprised when I found out that they’re from Brazil and that their first language isn’t english. I couldn’t really tell in their music, which I find impressive. So, double kudos to them for not only having beautiful vocals, but also being able to translate it well. I know for a fact I cannot do that, I butcher foreign songs.
I’m just thoroughly impressed with just about everything I’ve learned about this band. Their band is pretty incredible and they seem like genuine and kind people. I watched some of their vlogs and such and was giggling. They’re entertaining to watch and listen to. They have positive vibes just bursting through the screen so you can’t help but to smile. In the videos I’ve seen, the band is usually smiling and are grateful to have their fans. It’s always a bonus when a band is genuinely happy for their listeners and are kind. Their videos pulled me into the band even more, because I’m a sucker for a kind band. I will almost always like your band more if I think you’re kind. One thing I learned from one of their Q&A videos is the meaning of the band name. Campinfire is quite interesting and new, so I was also curious on how this came about. If I understood the meaning meaning correctly, the world is the fire, and need to set up camp in it. The world can be quite a brutal and awful place, much like a fire, so you need to set up camp in this fire and survive. To push through and endure all the crap the fire/world throws at you. It’s essentially this statement of survival and endurance in the midst of disaster. I find this to be interesting as all hell. I love when bands have interesting stories, and that one is pretty interesting. I would have never thought about that in all honesty.
I’m still new to listening to this band, but they are pretty great. I have been loving listening to their music and their covers. I can definitely hear the influences of Saywecanfly and Never Shout Never, which they mentioned are their biggest inspirations. I don’t mind it, since I enjoy those bands and their indie sounds. I think Campinfire will definitely pick up speed and become a larger band. I really hope they do, since they’re nice people. Their soothing vocals and instrumentals are beautiful and something that I can listen to over and over again without getting bored. Definitely check them out!
