The first song on the EP "Dustin Piper's (7th Failed Marriage)" is definitely the more upbeat of the two. Utilizing a talk-singing style and groovy guitar, this song reminds me of styles heard in bands like Sublime. The lyrics are somewhat humorous, but also flow well together and do a good job of telling a story. I appreciate that Leifer chose to use a vocal technique that isn't heard much anymore, and I think it fits the song very well. There is a nice rhythm throughout and it keeps the listener interested.
The second song "Falling Under" has more of a somber tone, but shows a heavier side of 3:00 Club's sound. Starting off soft and quiet, and breaking into gruff guitar, this song features hard rock sounds we all know and love. The vocals also show Leifer's range, and bring a lot of emotion into the song. While the lyrics are simple, they bring a lot of meaning to the song and match its sound perfectly. "Falling Under" shows a nice combination of soft and heavy rock sounds.
I also watched the band's live video of the song "Tie The Knot", which provided a good opportunity to see and hear their energy while performing. The band's sound transfers well from recording to onstage. From the video, I could tell the band was passionate about performing. Petrozzo showed a lot of energy throughout the video, really getting into the song and his playing. While I couldn't hear the details of the song as well, I liked the general sound of it and how it had a lot of instrumental breaks, because it really gives a chance to hear how the whole band works together.
If you're looking for a new, heavier rock band to listen to, I would definitely recommend 3:00 Club. These guys are clearly working very hard towards their music and did a great job of sampling their sound through this EP. Give 3:00 Club a listen, it's important to check out and support up-and-coming artists!
