Welshly Arms
Welshly Arms has a sound and energy unlike any I had ever seen before. Basing my impression off of their popular song 'Legendary', I honestly didn't expect much from this band, but as soon as they started playing I was blown away by their style and enthusiasm. The band consists of Sam Getz (lead vocals, guitar), Brett Lindemann (keyboard, vocals), Jimmy Weaver (bass, vocals), Mikey Gould (drums), Bri and Jon Bryant (vocals). Combining styles of indie, alternative, and blues, Welshly Arms has created a set that is sure to hype up any audience. Getz's vocals are guttural, which really bring out the blues and alternative mix of their sound. At times during the set, the band's energy brought Getz to his knees, wailing on his guitar. The most intriguing aspect of this band for me, though, was Bri and John Bryant's vocals and dancing. With incredible voices, tambourines/maracas, and choreographed dance moves, this duo had no trouble getting the crowd excited for their set. What I love about this band is they have such a unique sound and style, and aren't afraid to take risks. Welshly Arms is one of the most unique and upbeat bands you will ever see, and you should also listen to more of their music than just 'Legendary', because there is a lot more in store.
Missio
Missio's set has only gotten bigger and better as they have progressed into a headlining act. Now incorporating more lights and costumes to their set, I was a little nervous that it may distract from the incredible talent and energy I had seen from them even as an opening act. I definitely found that I had nothing to worry about, because Missio is the same as they were before, just on a more grand scale. The lights and white attire only added to their performance, bringing their dark style to life (and making for some great photos as well). Since this was my third time seeing Missio, I can't help but admire the progress and growth they have made over a few short months. It is evident that Brue and Butler have become more confident in their vocals/stage presence, and still bring a ton of energy to even the smallest stages. Brue made the show feel like an intimate and unique experience, singing directly to fans in the audience. Another way the shows on this tour are made personal is because the first 150 people at the venue get Missio Mafia pins and a free download for an unreleased song. I also think it's great that Missio continues to come back to the reason they perform in the first place, and always explain how they want to use their platform to help others who are dealing with depression, anxiety, sobriety, etc. I really respect how Missio wants to use their platform for a good cause. The duo also played a lot of new, unreleased music during their set. The opening song 'Temple' is definitely going to be a hit, as it is one of their more fun and upbeat songs. It was also exciting to hear them play their cover of 'West Coast' by Lana Del Rey live, as the whole audience cheered and applauded in approval. Missio is an all-around incredible band to see live. Their high energy and enthusiasm while performing is enough to make anyone want to get up and dance to their songs. Even if their electronic sound isn't something you usually like, I would suggest checking them out. In my opinion, just hearing their stuff versus seeing them live is a completely different experience. If you see Missio live, I can almost guarantee you will walk out considering yourself a member of the Missio Mafia.
